That One Night

Little Ash was wide awake.  Through the  dim light of her bedside night lamp, she could see the hour hand of the clock touch two.  This was well past her sleeping time in her tiny, beautiful world. For the past four hours, she was trying to sleep, but to no avail.  She had tried everything she could.  Wearing her favourite Barbie night suit which matched with her chubby rosy cheeks , she had cuddled her coziest teddy for a long long time, counted to 100 and even backwards , but she still couldn't sleep. How could she! What she had seen that day was of claustrophobic proportions. It had completely changed her view of life.  Back in the day, during lunch , while she was munching her favourite Aloo Parathas, her friend was telling everyone about this. She found it too hard to be true.  Pedalling back home, she was giving this a thought while her yellow house batch fluttered through thin air which was whistling through strands of her silky...

The flight that knew it all.

Acknowledging the fake smile of the air hostess, he entered the flight cabin in a hurry. This project had made him go through a lot. Meetings , presentations and  appointments which hardly gave him any time to even take a proper sleep from the past two months. Finally, it was done. And he was heading back home. HOME .  Not the place  where he was brought up, but the place where he had been living just for a few months before he had joined here for the project .  With a little smirk to the passenger ahead of him in the queue struggling with his luggage, he was amused at the thought of calling the place where he didn’t like to live suddenly as Home. Maybe it was just because of  getting away from all this tedious work at last , his convoluted mind thought. It was wrong. He found himself relieved as he adjusted himself on the window seat. After all this time, there was at least something good happening  . But he kn...

Mission Impossible

BOOM ! There was dust everywhere. This was his last hand grenade that had exploded taking out two black clad terrorists who had managed to kill all of his platoon members. Events had taken an ugly turn a while back when about 50 more terrorist emerged from the hidden underground tunnel. What was supposed to be a regular combat operation to eliminate the dreaded Lashkar Commander had just become Mission impossible.  Suddenly, his radio crackled ,"Anyone online? What's your status. Please respond. I repeat , RESPOND ."  He took the radio in his hand and replied in  a hushed voice," We have received heavy casualties. There are lots of them. We have been heavily outnumbered." He peeped over the small platform under which he was hiding, to see what they were up to. They were about 100 yards out,  searching for any of  army men to see if anyone of them was alive. Their commander Afghani who was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent ...

Journey- Part 1

Resting on a comfy rocking chair in the balcony of Hotel Green Valley in Kasol , he could hear the sound of the Parvati river flowing through the valley. This was one of the most scintillating sights he had ever witnessed. At the front were the behemoth Himalayan peaks, whose grandeur completely overwhelmed the shear existence of mankind.  A cool breeze was flowing carrying along with it a mystifying aroma of the hills. The clear night sky was full of stars  shining like small diamonds which made the whole experience too good to be true. Gazing at this surreal view, he had completely lost the track of time.  He started to think about the mountains. He had read that mountains were formed by the movement of tectonic plates under the surface of Earth. But that was it. Just the origin.  Any scientist in any language could not explain the feeling of bliss that he was currently experiencing.  There were several mysteries in this world which had yet...

Compromised

I was compromised. They had come to know that I was a spy. I saw my end coming. All I could do was to patiently wait for my death. A small mistake that was about to end my life. "Tie him up", commanded their boss. I was tied by my hands and legs and one of them pushed me on my knees. The pain of fear had dominated over physical pain. I couldn't feel my knees bumping on the ground hard. He pointed a gun on my forehead. The boss, was just eager to kill the only proof of his illegality. A streak of fear ran down my spine. My whole body shivered. I felt my hands and legs trembling. He pulled the gun to load a bullet. That sound was all that was audible. Everything around got numb and calm. The water dripping down the ceiling of their base, the wind brushing against my face, it was all precisely felt. My brain could concentrate and focus on each activity going around me. Their laughter in the background in slow motion and the eagerness of the boss to kill, in his eyes...

Life Story of an Ingenious burger

Resting at an extremely overused tray, along with his all time trusted companion, the tomato ketchup sachet, waiting for that fat little spectacled jerk, the ham and cheese burger wondered what the future had in store for him.  Would it simply be eaten away, chewed vigorously by that not so adorable specimen of a homo sapien  , just like every other burger that was ever produced, or would he be "The ONE" ? The ONE who changed the destiny of the generations of burgers to come. The ONE that finally got them to those levels where they actually belonged.  That level was certainly not some smelly guy's poop. Though difficult, but it could be him. He surely had a better IQ than others. He could actually "think" all this. And it was also not as if he was just relying on fate for everything to   happen. He had planned things out. And if things went his way, he would restore his breed's lost glory.  What he needed was, that just before that fata...

The Quintessential ToothBrush

Nothing was working. Absolutely nothing. He was lying in bed but was awake the whole night. His mind was wondering , wondering where everything went wrong. They were such a lovely romantic couple. She was what everyone would crave, even die for. Breathtaking Beauty , intelligence , humbleness and exactly the right amount of humour, there was no virtue which she was devoid of. He had observed that even his friends were jealous of him. This was how attractive her personality was.  But suddenly, what seemed like 'the' perfect love story had taken a steep downhill tumble. They ended up arguing on even the most trivial of issues. And the clear skies now looked gloomy. He felt exhausted by every means. But he couldn't even think of losing her. She was his sweetheart, his lucky charm. He had been in relationships before, but nowhere was he involved such an engaging manner.  Heck . Stop thinking about all this , he told his mind which he knew would not stop traumatising...
